The people I bought it from weren't able to provide any history and they never had any keys.
A Google search came up with a source that might still carry a key to fit one of the locks.
The little drawers inside are long gone, so I'm hoping to find some baskets or small containers to fill the spaces. This really looks like a home grown piece of furniture, most likely made in great grandpa's woodworking shop.
So much charm, functional, sturdy, and definitely made with love.

I like seeing someone else buy something just because they like it. I let so many very cool things go and regret it. I love the long drawer. One of the huge piles I recently found had two workbenches in it with really long drawers in them that went about 5 or so feet across. I thought they were the coolest things. This was such a great find. Glad you got to snag it!

That is one great piece of furniture. I like your idea of baskets where you don't have drawers.
I am excited that there will be a flea market in Ventura at Seaside Park on March 31. I will be on spring break and with my husband still in a sling we won't be going away. I am saving my money because don't often get the flea market in town.
I will look for rust and grunge and then think "what would Betsy do with this?"

Oh, snap! I would buy that, too. And probably keep it. That long, skinny drawer would be perfect to keep large stencils in. Oh, now I'm on a hunt for something similar!

I think you just hadn't quite finished writing the fine print part of your rules where it says things like "unless it has cubbies" and "leaving it behind will induce wrinkle-causing anxiety". The fine print is important.

Coming over from Angie, I'm glad you did not leave it behind. Its got awesome potential. I dont easily pass up a piece because it has some nicks and scrathes! If it has good bones like your piece I bring it home with me.

There are lots of possibilities there. Sometimes when something speaks to you, you have to get it. Have you thought about cigar boxes as new drawers? You can decorate and add drawer pulls.......
I make lots of promises to myself too...but sometime you just have to got for it!! You'd be kicking yourself if you passed this one up! Love that heart...so sweet :)
